Historic Trails Award

To earn the Historic Trails award, members of your unit must plan and participate in a historic activity.

A unit historic activity requires members to:

1. Locate a historic trail or site using The Adventure Plan site or by contacting local councils. Have participating Scouts study materials regarding the historical aspect of the trail or site using council-provided pamphlets, web-based resources, local historic societies, or the library.
2. Hike or camp 2 days and 1 night along the trail or in the vicinity of the site.
3. Conduct a substantial service project or trail/site restoration under the supervision or permission of the owner or sponsoring agency of the trail or site. An alternative to a project can be a historic pageant, ceremony, or other public event related to this trail or site.
   Such an event should be large enough to merit coverage by the local press.
4. Your unit leader must then file the Historic Trails Award Application with your council service center.
