COVID-19 Merit Badges
While being socially distant and helping to Flatten That Curve, scouts can give these relevant merit badges a look since they pertain to our current environment:
There are also a lot of merit badges that include quite a bit of self-study for the requirements. With extra time on their hands, here's a bunch that any scout can make good progress on individually with no need to leave home:

Sort of. Two of the first four require going out into the public, so they are not appropriate
and should not be listed here.
Safety merit badge requires going to a public place with your family and showing the exits. "Telling" is not an option, this is a "show" requirement.
Public Health requires visiting a waste management or food processing facility.

Most of the requirements for those merit badges can be done at home. The Scout can work on those requirements now, and then finish up any remaining requirements after the social distancing requirements have lifted.

@Walter - The first 4 listed are
relevant to the current COVID-19
situation because of their topic of
interest. The rest have a lot of self-
directed requirements that could be
accomplished by individual scouts in
isolated environments.

Since I as the scoutmaster usually need to physically sign the card to "open" and "close" the blue card, can I do that virtually, or via an email approval?

@Brian - This BSA page has a good explanation of the
M.B. process and the unit leader's part in it.
The scoutmaster
can delegate signature to another person in circumstances making
getting your signature impractical. I'd say the current world
situation is one of those circumstances and would have no
problem allowing the parent to sign in my place.
I would use a
quick phone call, rather than email, to the scout and parents to
tell them to sign, and to touch base with the scout.
