Social Distancing Cub Scout Patch and Sticker
Use this patch or sticker to promote social distancing guidelines, remind scout families that Scouting continues through difficult times, or surprise your scouts at the next Pack meeting after experiencing this global event together.
This patch is meant as a fun way to recognize Cub Scouts.
The following requirements can be used, or you can create your own, to give a little more meaning to the patch.
Requirements for the Social Distancing patch:
- Do the following:
- Talk with your parent about your extended time spent at home. Give at least two examples of each:
- Something that has made the time not enjoyable.
- Something that has been fun.
- Something that you did not expect, but was a pleasant surprise.
- Discuss the following Social Distancing terms with your parent:
- flatten the curve
- slow the spread
- do the five
- Talk with your parent about your extended time spent at home. Give at least two examples of each:
- Explain to your parent at least 3 different ways to estimate a 6-foot distance. For example, "6 feet equals 2 dog lengths".
- With a parent, rank the following 10 popular sports from Best to Worst for Social Distancing appropriateness: football, baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, wrestling, volleyball, swimming, ultimate, bicycling
- Using Zoom, or a phone, do the following with your parent:
- Talk with a friend you haven't seen in at least a week.
- Talk with a remote relative.
- Talk with any other person; teacher, pastor, cubmaster, ...
- Demonstrate to your parent your ability to socially distance yourself by doing at least 3 of the following Social Distancing activities:
- Wash your hands correctly
- Cough into your elbow
- Wave to another person
- Pass someone on a walking path
- Correctly put on and take off nitrile gloves
- Order a take-out meal for your family using a phone or the internet. You or your parent may pay for the meal.
- Simulate Social Distancing by living in a simulated (or real) quarantine environment by not leaving your house or physically interacting with any other humans except your immediate family for 2 days. During this time, complete at least three of these tasks with your family:
- Complete 1 jigsaw puzzle of at least 200 pieces
- Memorize lyrics to 3 songs
- Play 10 games of solitaire with real cards
- Watch 1 full season of any video series with your parent, totaling at least 6 hours
- Read 1 book of at least 200 pages
- Watch one of the three Toy Story movies and at least one other movie, both with your family
